What Calometer stores

Calometer stores the account, profile, nutrition, subscription, device, and notification data needed to run the app. That includes your sign-in account, profile goals, meal entries, calories, macros, food names, portions, water logs, weigh-ins, subscription entitlement state, trusted-device records, and push-notification settings.

When you save a food entry with a photo, the photo can be stored with the entry if object storage is enabled. If you do not save an analyzed photo as an entry, Calometer still may keep an analysis hash and result cache so repeating the same photo and note can return faster and avoid duplicate AI calls.

How photo analysis works

When you ask Calometer to analyze a meal, the photo and optional note are sent to our server and then to our AI provider through OpenRouter. The response is an estimate of foods, portions, calories, protein, carbs, fat, and confidence. You should review and adjust the result before saving it.

AI meal analysis is not a medical measurement and can be wrong. Calometer is a nutrition tracking tool, not a medical device or healthcare provider.

Health and subscription integrations

If you grant permission, Calometer reads active-energy-burned samples from Apple Health to show burned calories in the app. The current app does not write workout, nutrition, or medical records back to Apple Health.

Paid access is handled through Apple App Store subscriptions and RevenueCat entitlement checks. Calometer does not receive your full payment-card details.

Providers involved

• Apple and Google for supported sign-in flows.
• OpenRouter and underlying model providers for meal-photo analysis.
• S3-compatible object storage, including Cloudflare R2 where configured, for saved entry photos.
• RevenueCat and Apple App Store for subscription entitlement, billing state, and purchase management.
• Expo Push Service and Apple Push Notification service for reminders when notifications are enabled.
• Open Food Facts for public food-search and barcode fallback data.
• Hosting, database, logging, and infrastructure providers needed to operate the app and website.

Controls you have

• You can change Apple Health, camera, and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
• You can cancel App Store subscriptions through Apple ID subscription settings.
• You can request access, correction, export, or deletion by using app features or contacting support@calometer.app.
• Deleting your Calometer account does not cancel App Store billing; subscription cancellation happens with Apple.

Security basics

Calometer uses HTTPS, authenticated sessions, server-side validation, trusted-device records, per-device request signing, secure device storage for local credentials, provider access controls, and limited-access infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, so you should also protect your device, Apple or Google account, and email.

Deletion and retention

Account deletion removes sign-in records, sessions, linked auth accounts, trusted-device keys, push tokens, notification settings, and provider customer data where supported. Stored photo links are removed from entries. Backups, provider logs, security logs, and legal or accounting records may persist for limited periods.
